Burgundy in the 2023 Vintage

A regional appellation, Bourgogne brings together the diversity of a vineyard spread across four departments: Yonne, Côte-d'Or, Saône-et-Loire and Rhône. For its reds it relies on pinot noir, also known in Burgundy as pinot noirien.

The grapes are crushed on arrival at the cellar; maceration lasts 8 to 10 days, with pump-overs, temperature control and little punching down. The wine is aged partly in tank and partly in traditional 228-litre Burgundy barrels, around 10% of them new. The nose shows aromas of small fruit, evolving over time toward more animal notes; the palate is structured and full-bodied, at times slightly tannic depending on the year. Serve at 15 to 18°C, within 5 to 6 years, with grilled or roasted red meat, poultry, game or cheese.

Food pairing

Grilled or roast red meats, poultry, game, cheeses. Serve at 15–18 °C.

Bernard Moreau

Domaine Bernard Moreau, in Chassagne-Montrachet on the Côte de Beaune, carries forward a family story that began in 1809.

Founded by Auguste Moreau, who built a cellar near the Champs Gain climat, the estate took its present shape from the 1930s under Marcel Moreau. Bernard Moreau took over the vineyard in the early 1960s and gave the domaine his name in 1977. Today the fourth generation leads the estate: sons Alexandre, in charge of vinification, and Benoît, responsible for the vineyard work.

The family's 15 hectares span 14 appellations across the communes of Chassagne-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin, with white wines accounting for 70 percent of production.

At Sélection Boudras, we value domaines where each generation passes on precision and a deep sense of terroir.
