Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru “Les Serpentières” in the 2020 Vintage

A few kilometres north of Beaune opens the valley of Savigny-lès-Beaune, whose appellation is limited to the commune alone. Pinot Noir for the reds, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc for the whites grow here on clay-limestone soils that turn clayier and stonier further down the slope. Recognised in 1937, the appellation counts 22 Premier Cru climats, among them “Les Serpentières”, a red of charm and fine tension.

Domaine Michel Ecard

Domaine Michel Ecard is a small estate in Savigny-lès-Beaune, run by Michel and Joanna Ecard, with vines in some of the village's finest Premiers Crus.

On around four hectares they produce a village Savigny-lès-Beaune and several Premiers Crus, including “Les Serpentières”, “Les Gravains”, “Les Peuillets” and “Les Narbantons”.

An estate on a family scale, wholly devoted to its village north of Beaune, whose wines let each of Savigny's climats speak for itself.
