Between the Mediterranean and the Cévennes, the Languedoc unfolds like a vast amphitheatre; its appellation, created in 1985 as Coteaux du Languedoc and renamed Languedoc in 2007, now covers the whole region. From the slopes of Aniane, at the foot of the Larzac plateau, comes this white “Le Songe d'Éocène” from Château Capion: a name that recalls the ancient ages of the earth, for a white wine presented in its original wooden case.
Grilled fish or fish in sauce, poultry, Mediterranean cuisine, goat's cheeses. Serve at 10–12 °C.
Château Capion lies at the foot of the Larzac plateau in the northern Languedoc, not far from its famous neighbours Grange des Pères and Mas Daumas Gassac.
The building's origins date back to the 16th century. Since 2023, Francis Ingrand and Sandrine Tannière, a couple from Montpellier, have run the 96-hectare estate, 49 hectares of which are planted with vines. Farmed organically since the 2020 vintage, the vineyard produces wines classified under the AOP Terrasses-du-Larzac and Languedoc, as well as the IGP Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert and Pays d'Oc.
