Xavier Copel, born in Cahors and trained as an oenologist in Toulouse, founded his négociant house in Bordeaux in 1992, based in Pondaurat. Each cuvée tells the story of a terroir.
After vinifying in Cahors and at Domaine de Chevalier (Cru Classé de Pessac-Léognan), he built a micro-négoce and consulting practice at the heart of the terroirs of Bordeaux, southwestern France and Spain, forging close ties with notable winegrowers. In 2016, this gave rise to the “Copel” range, conceived as a haute-couture approach to parcel-by-parcel vinification.
His philosophy: a single partner winegrower per appellation, working the same well-exposed old parcel year after year. Grapes for the Pauillac, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru and Pomerol wines are harvested by hand.
At Sélection Boudras, we value this precision, which lets each place speak in its own voice.
