Maison Albert Bichot, headquartered in the heart of Beaune, carries a Burgundian family tradition forward with an eye firmly on the future.
The Bichot family's roots trace back to 1214, taking hold in Burgundy from 1350 at Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, where its emblem, a doe, first appeared and has remained unchanged ever since. In 1831, Bernard Bichot founded a trading house under his name in Monthélie; his son Hippolyte later added the family's first vineyards, in Volnay. In 1912, Albert Bichot I settled the company permanently in Beaune, and Albert Bichot II went on to open the house to international trade.
Since 1996, Albéric Bichot, the sixth generation to lead the house, has expanded its estate holdings to six domaines spanning northern to southern Burgundy, now totalling over one hundred hectares of vines in its own right. The house has begun converting its Côte-d'Or vineyards to organic farming, and harvesting there is done by hand.
At Sélection Boudras, we value this house for the breadth of its terroirs: our selection includes seven of its wines, spanning Montagny, Chablis, Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, Chassagne-Montrachet, Fleurie, Mâcon-Pierreclos and Griotte-Chambertin.
